Landed
Today we traveled from Portland to Baltimore via Phoenix and Orlando. Now I know what a reblogged post feels like.

Good Things About Today
(1) Laundry while traveling always feels like a bonus prize. Extra bonus prize: Ackb’s mom did most of it. Thanks!
(2) I got to see the famous play area at the mall that I missed yesterday because of work I had to catch up on.
(3) I read a whole section of a chapter in the profesh book I packed. That’s enough to make me feel justified for bringing it, not enough to take over my...
We’re stopped at the mall near Eugene. It’s mostly a typical mall except for the strong presence of Oregon Ducks and the vegan pie shop in the food court.
Note to self
Taking a break from working in the car to check Tumblr will not make you less queasy.
Places from which I did not Tumbl
(1)Final pageant dress rehearsal
(2)The chancel during Christmas Eve service
(3)Enjoying the last snuggle with the cat before our trip (she has an awesome cat sitter, worry not)
(4)Airport security
(5)While getting teary at Starbucks during the layover because Christmas
Too much restraint?
I am tremendously grateful that the day when I was so sick I could barely get out of bed was also a day when there were two other parents available to care for children, when I didn’t have to go to work or to class, and when all of our utilities (heat, running water) were functioning. As Ackb mentioned, we postponed the Solstice breakfast. I was able to be upright long enough last night to...
Eight Day Festival
Means we get another try at sufganiyot tomorrow.
Tonight we opened Solstice gifts after babies went to bed. I am very happy with the Royal Baubles (from partners) and scarf (from my brother and his wife) that I hinted for relentlessly, as well as the surprise pretty box and stack of chocolate from the fair trade shop. Even more, I’m pleased with how much my partners liked the mugs I...
Holiday Spirit Activated
I’ve been having kind of a hard time for the last several weeks, and haven’t been up to holiday muchness. But then! Today I got to have crafting time! And we’re going to have our whole household together for menorah lighting tonight! And Ondiru has ambitions of making sufganiyot after the babies go to bed! And our second annual Fambly Solstice Pancake Breakfast is tomorrow!

jessamama asked: I thought you would get a big kick out of this... we taught Harper 'what a dinosaur says' so if you say, ''Harper! What's a dinosaur say?" she will go, ''RAWR'' in the quietest voice, ever. And then you will die from the cute.
Fortunately/Unfortunately
Fortunately I finished muffins & tomorrow’s potluck quiche in time to gather art supplies for a work thing tomorrow. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the fadeless paper. Fortunately I thought to look in the basement. Unfortunately I found water in the basement. Seems like a leak in the water line. Fortunately we discovered it before major damage. Unfortunately there’s still a...

No Muffins
But zero concept to 2500 words in one day, so I’m OK.
I am hoping for baking time after work tomorrow.

Self Hypnosis
My gift of the day (related to the practice I mentioned a few days ago) was to play a song for Ackb and Ondiru while we lounged around the family room. (Actually, their gift was listening. I’m not an awesome guitarist.) I looked through my songbooks and settled on an easy arrangement of “Let It Be.”
Let me back up and tell you that today was hard. I don’t want to get into...
